Joining the ranks of other Moms...

Yall will never guess what I did?!?  I surmised to THAT mom...you know, the superbly-organized-fun-full-of-summer-activities sort of mom?!  I made a bucket list.  Yep, I sure did.  Here are some of the fun things we are going to tackle this summer. We started yesterday...

  • Visit Martha's Park in Morganton, NC
Kohen
Kade and Josef
My Sweet Boys

Kohen

Kade

Sarabeth
Martha's Park was so much fun that I had to add it to our list again.  Best part, it's totally free and there is also a huge playground in addition to the splash park.  I also like that there are park benches and grassy areas where you can relax while you watch your kids have the time of their lives!  So, so much fun!

As we complete activities, I'll add them here =)  Stay tuned for a super, cool summer with the Killians!

VBS 2012

This week has been filled with lots of fun stuff. We are having VBS at our church, and Kyle and I are teaching the 3 year olds. The first night, we had 11 students, so when Preacher Dale said, "Tomorrow night, I want eveyone to bring a friend...," I looked at Kyle and said "Oh my!"  We had 10 on Monday, 9 on Tuesday, and 10 on Wednesday!

We've had some amazing friends step up to help us out!  Thanks Ms. Bethany and Ms. Vicki for all of your help!  We needed it!!! =)

We have had such a great time getting up close and personal with these kids! Many of our students are in Kade's Sunday School class. Here's a little snippet of some activities we have had:

We've had bible story time where our amazing youth pastor and helpers have acted out parts of the bible story

We've had craft time where the very gifted Sherry Shook has helped the kids make some super cute crafts

We've had snacks!!! (which I totally forgot to get a picture of!)

We've had music time where most of the kids have really boogied!

We've had inclass time where we review the day's bible story, color, play games, or go outside.

It's been such an awesome week. God has once again reminded us that salvation is so simple even a child can understand it! We've had 5 precious lives given to Jesus! Take that Satan!!!!!

And I was able to take a quick peak at Kohen who is being spoiled rotten by his sweet teachers too...

Last night was family night full of celebration, food, and fun!!!! Even though I was totally wiped out when I came home, I went out to run before bed. (Week 3, Day 2 of the Couch to 5k complete for those of you who are keeping up with my progress...if anyone)

What a great way to start out the summer!  What a glorious week!

This and That...

Hey Friends!  Happy Friday!

Things are moving right along for the Killian's.  Here is a little snippet of what we've been up to:
  • Kyle and I are beginning week 3 on the Couch to 5K!  I haven't even looked ahead to see how exhausting week 3 will be.  If I am honest, I'm still struggling with week 1.  I'm so proud of  myself that I literally could cry!  I haven't given up!
  • Kade and Kohen both had well visits this week.
Waiting for the doctor
  • Kade is getting so big.  He didn't even cry when he received his vaccines.  So proud of him!  Since he is 3 years old now, it was time to check his eye sight.  As I was wondering how on earth the doctor would be able to check his eyes, the nurse took Kade up to a list of pictures he was asked to identify.  Once there was confirmation he knew all the pictures, they moved Kade across the room where he was asked to identify the smaller version.  (Let's just say Momma couldn't even see them--there must be an eye visit in my near future.)  I cracked up at Kade as he would respond.  He would say, "That's probably a car....that's probably a birthday cake..."  It was a moment of cuteness.  AND--it totally made me almost forget that he dropped his pants and urinated on the bush in front of the doctor's office while I was getting Kohen out of the car.
  • Kade
  • Kohen is getting so big too.  I can't believe he will be 19 months old on Sunday!  He is still measuring small for his age group (only 10% for weight), but the doctor has told  me he has been consistently small, so nothing to really worry about.  Kohen's vocabulary is increasing daily.  He is slowly transitioning from baby babble to language you can actually understand.  A few of my favorite words are "Hilp" for help, "I sorreee" for I'm sorry, and "Whera hera" for we're here.  Recently, the boys visited the Zahra Baker Playground.  Kohen was having trouble climbing up the hill to the top of the slide.  A man who was there playing with his children offered to help Kohen up the hill.  Once they reached the top, Kohen told him "Thank you," which really impressed the man.  It melts my heart to know he is learning and showing good manners.

  • We are gearing up for VBS to begin Sunday night at our church.  Kyle and I will be teaching the 3 year old class.  We appreciate your prayers =)
I began blogging several years ago in search of new friends who, like me, were having a difficult time getting pregnant. Five years, 2 miscarriages, 4 failed IUI's, and a doctor who told us "It will never happen" later, we are the proud parents of Kade and Kohen. They are each an example of God's absolute perfection. We thank God where medical intervention stops, Divine intervention begins.
